A new Render

Sorry - but I'm a writer before rendering... and well... a story stalled for a year and a half became unstalled.

Michaela meets two Paladins

I guess I should introduce myself - my name's Mike. Michaela actually but only Frank calls me that. I'm a little over a hundred and a vampire. I recently took my first vacation and went to visit some really sweet, hunky, almost immortal and computer geeks - like me.

I drove from Mobile to St. Louis - there I met with Jake. Really sweet, funny guy. We went out for drinks and he was surprised that I could eat "real" food. (eyeroll) We found a nice secluded garden area and talked till almost sunrise. Since I didn't feel like getting 3rd degree burns, and he's a sweetheart - he let me stay at his place while he was at work.

The next evening I caught a flight to Seattle and met DJ. Hunky, almost immortal, computer geek #2. Boy Howdy! That man knows how to dance! Too bad I had to come back to Mobile and work. Maybe now that I'm getting email from two hunks Jonathon will stop being a prick.

I didn't bite either guy. I don't do that on a first date. But I sure was tempted! If they'll invite me to visit again - and I'm not busy carting dead vampire carcasses to the bay for the gators... we'll get together again.

October 16th

Ok... I love the dress, hair and morph - and wanted to play with a surface shader... I call this one "Sorcery Practice"

Been quiet a while

Real life decided it hadn't kicked me in the backside lately and decided to correct the problem. Which meant no render time for me. I do have a couple renders that I haven't posted so thought you might enjoy seeing them.

First up: Vacation

I love this outfit and have many textures for it, each one has a slightly different feel, from goth to a touch of innocence. I've used it in several images Rose, Misunderstood, Searching and this one. The background is a HUGE set piece that is very rich in texture and I just love the kitties.

Second up is DJ's Workout

Another one of those time to kill renders from Alexis Morgan's Paladin series - (Dark Defender, Dark Protector, In Darkness Reborn, and Redeemed in Darkness). DJ is a Paladin who fights in an unknown war keeping Earth safe from crazed Others that invade our world. He's also a mischievious prankster and a computer genius - he hacks into systems for fun and profit.... he writes security software on the side. Anyway - I enjoy rendering hot guys and DJ is a good "model". I tried some different settings on the skin trying to get that sheen of sweat but right before there's beads of sweat running down... Came pretty close to the effect I was after. Should have tweaked the waist on the jeans a bit more.

Been so busy

I forgot to post this render... It won honorable mention in the contest.

This was just playing with a new hair and trying that tan light thing, and a new light for the eyes. Turned out rather nice.

Playing with Tigers

OK, I admit it... I love tigers. When this weeks specials showed up and I saw the dress... well the rest is render history... I also tried out the fog tool I got months ago but didn't have anything to use it on.

Lighting test and a happy accident

This was a lighting test. I added a tan distant light. I was trying for a sunrise/sunset feel but it didn't work out that way, instead it gave her skin a really nice tan color and the building an almost adobe feel. One thing about doing renders, when doing women finding jewelry that looks good is a pain in the ass. There is very little that isn't horrid. I call this one "Pondering"

This one was a happy accident. Oh the girl and her pose wasn't, but the feel of her is different in the final than in the original idea. She was suppossed to be resting after killing the dragon, but when I put the dragon in and started testing poses I got the one you currently see. It reminded me of a puppy who was seeing what their master was doing. Since dragons are intelligent - the idea flashed in my head of a dead knight in the background. I call this one "Was I bad?"

After a week of nothing

Well, after a week of nothing going right, or ideas fizzling as soon as I had them... I got some rendering done today. The first one, "Bridge to Adventure" I'm not sure about the second girl - the one in white... but I do like how the lighing turned out.

The second one I was playing with a texture for the dress. I liked the way it was turning out so much I added a few things and took it to finish. I really like this one... just wish I could think of a title for it... I'm calling it "Thoughtful"

Today has been a Monday

So, today is Monday... and it has tried hard to be one... Tried to work on a render and ended up frustrated because it wouldn't work out the way I wanted. Got one to work finally but more about that later.
I've created a Zazzle store to try and make some spending money off my renders. I'm in the process of uploading them, some very old stuff is on there but it will be coming down for the new stuff... keychains, magnets, mousepads, tshirts, posters, mugs etc... it's here if you are interested - http://www.zazzle.com/delilahstephans Comment with any specific render you want on a specific item and I'll work on getting it up.
Now to the render... well it's really more of a joke was thinking about Ancient Egypt, then thought museum... which led to me thinking about the movie "Night at the Museum" - which gave me the idea of a little girl insisting to the Museum employee that the figures came to life at night... and so I created this:

Sunday

I hit a bit of a block today... well it could have something to do with falling at 6:30 this morning and just having a down day - happens sometimes. I did still managed to get one good render done. I like the motion that came through on this one. I call it "Last Warrior Standing"

Saturday and two renders...

And so the rendering continues. First one I call In the Desert... I like it but after completing it I did wish I'd done a few things... more bushes in the background so they'd look a little thicker, lights a little brighter for a noon in the desert effect. But all in all still a strong image.

The second one is totally Maggie Shayne's fault. Maybe I shouldn't try and read the entire Wings of the Night series back to back... not stopping but oh well. I call this one "No Place Like Home" and features the ancient vampress Rhiannon.

Today's Work....

So I finished the one I was working on last night... notice a slightly different angle, the hem now floats around her ankles, panther is panting, and ta da they are looking at each other!
This one is "My Queen"

This one has 3 crossing lights that are centered on the lovely priestess. This one has a bit of a story about it... Long ago - ok 2 years ago or so - my friend Tiranth and I started this story... space travellers looking for Earth 3, they appeared on this little planet that had only one civilization that was based on Ancient Egypt... long long long involved story I don't feel like going into... one of the characters was the High Priestess of Anubis, Amneris... well here she is...

"Priestess of Anubis"

If you are wondering about the Egypt theme lately... I just got a great deal on a ton of egyptian content....

A Work in Progress

I thought you folks might enjoy seeing what I call a test render. I do one before I apply lights to the scene. I use it to check for little things that need to be fixed.

The little things in this one? Well... the hem of her dress... it's not bunching around her feet... it's cutting through them. She's not quite looking at the guy yet and I'm thinking of having the black panther yawning.

Welcome to DK Renders

I absolutely stink at creating web pages. I have a domain and everything but can't seem to create HTML, YET! Yet is a big word for me. There are a lot of things I don't know how to do, yet... but I insist on learning. Learning keeps the mind young and active. I like that. It's why I learned to do renders.
I've always wanted to do visual art, but lacked the talent, but with 3D rendering, I'm able to do bring the pictures in my head to life - most of the time. I've been doing them for about a year now and every day I push myself. I have an account on Deviant Art - http://dkrenders.deviantart.com/ and now this blog. I'm going to try and post the days renders before crashing each night. I usually do one render a day... sometimes 2.

Here are today's renders:
I'm still learning to do reflections and FINALLY got a render where they turned out well.... I call this one Restocking The Bar

This next one is part of the building the environment series... for too long my renders were single character, blah background, no depth - working on that too... and courtesy of Alexis Morgan's wonderful books about Paladins I get lots of ideas. This one is called - The Meeting:
